LABORATORIES

Laboratories are a seed ground where students get to explore, question, invent and deduce findings and learn in a collaborative way. Keeping in mind the famous Chinese proverb "I hear - I forget ; I see -- I remember ; I do -- I understand", the school boasts of separate lab facilities for Senior School and Middle School for all the Science subjects viz Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Computer Science. The Physics, Chemistry and Biology Lab have fully equipped teaching stations at the front of the room. They can see instructional demonstrations before they conduct experiments themselves. Each Lab has a spacious work area and at a time 40 students can be involved in experimentation. All the labs are equipped with computers. Trained Lab assistants help in the maintenance of Labs.

There is a Chemistry lab in our school. The labs is well-lit , well equipped and can accommodate 20-25 students. The children can conduct practical’s individually. The Class XII students also conduct investigatory projects apart from the usual testing and analysis. For the middle school there is a provision to demonstrate a lot of experiments. Many charts and models are displayed and used as teaching aids. The lab managed by qualified lab assistants who help the students to perform experiments safely.

The Biology lab is well- structured, well-lit and well-equipped. There is no dearth of material and children are encouraged to explore the mysteries and understand difficult concepts of the subject through experimentation. The children are also taken outdoors to study the flora and fauna. The school garden is an ecology lab by itself. The gardeners supply the lab with live materials like plants and insects. All kinds of rooting, grafting, germination procedures and chromatography are also executed in the Biology labs.

There is a well-equipped Physics laboratories which can cater to 25 students each of the Senior and Middle school respectively. There is a provision for all the children to conduct their experiments individually. Many working models are displayed for different experiments. The laboratory has a qualified lab assistant. All safety measures are taken care of. Routine stock-taking is done to ensure that the labs are in perfect order.

Games and Sports have always been an integral part of the school’s curricula. The Junior Sports Day and Senior Sports Day are power packed with vigour, skill and a celebration of the uncrushable spirit of sportsmanship. The school has sprawling playfields with basketball courts , volleyball courts and a cricket pitch.There is an indoor Badminton and Table Tennis court. The Sports Department holds tournaments such as inter-section football matches, cricket matches, volley ball, basketball and table tennis matches. The girls participate in inter-section matches in throw ball, basketball and table tennis.

The Robotic lab is a bright and generous space where children can spread out to do their inventing. There are computer stations where children can test and program their robots. Equipment is available for each student to perform his/her task. Students learn to build robots using the latest Robotics Systems, as well as principles of motion and gearing, and use of light, touch, and ultrasonic sensors. Students compete in a variety of robotic challenges that include drones, mazes, obstacle ride, races, and soccer.

A library opens the portals to the infinite world of knowledge. A library is a collection of resources in a variety of formats that isorganized by information professionals or other experts who provide convenient physical, digital, bibliographic, or intellectual access and offer targeted services and programs with the mission of educating, informing, or entertaining a variety of audiences and the goal of stimulating individual learning and advancing society as a whole. A library of wisdom, is more precious than all wealth, and all things that are desirable cannot be compared to it. Whoever therefore claims to be zealous of truth, of happiness, of wisdom or knowledge, must become a lover of books. The libraries are open from 8.00am till 1.30pm for student and staff use. The center has a large reference section and carries a variety of newspapers and magazines. The aim of the center is to provide a lively research area within the school for study and reading. A library teacher is present throughout the day, to assist with individual research and to supervise the smooth running of the library facilities. The library has more than 25,000 books, 20 periodicals, volumes of Encyclopedias covering a wide range of topics including Academics & Career Guidance.

The Teachers train the children as they embark on a journey of discovering their inner sensibilities. There is a separate, spacious and well equipped dance and music rooms in the school building which facilitate the creative, aesthetic and artistic nurturing of the school children. Both these rooms are well-equipped with musical and dance instruments and all the technical equipment required for the above purpose

Western Music Rooms
Music education plays an important role in a child’s overall development intellectually, socially, and emotionally. Music offers creative challenges and aesthetic appreciation as well as self-expression and self-discovery opportunities.

To foster emotional and practical maturity, personal and intellectual development in students’, our school emphasizes on imparting appropriate music lessons in classical, folk and western genres. Practical maturity is gained by the students through music education where they learn time management, self-assessment, the ability to accept criticism and self-evaluate further. Music develops critical thinking skills and make the students excellent problem solvers. Music is also a form of art, and OPGM never falls short in finding and promoting individual’s talent of expressing his/her thoughts through the medium of art.

Music plays a vital role in fostering personality trails and helps students to enrich their intelligence which would lead them to their own path of success.
